This is a walkthrough for creating dynamic content in Sensorpro.

This guide explains how Dynamic Content works in Sensorpro, how to set it up, and how to test it.

Getting Started

Dynamic Content is the ability to create a single email template that delivers different, personalized emails to your contacts based upon their demographic profile and preferences.

Conditional blocks are sections of text that are inserted into a message based on a conditional statement. If the condition is “true”, a particular section of text will be inserted into the message. If the condition is “blank”, the text will not be inserted.

Introduction

Step 1. Decide on which field in the contact record contains the conditional content.

Step 3. Prepare default content to be inserted if condition is “False”.

To add a dynamic block in the email designer, use this layout from the left side of the designer to add a sample block for you to change.

It will add this content to your email (which you can update using the instructions underneath).

To insert conditional text based on a person’s job title. In plain English, this is how it works:

In SensorPro, dynamic content is added directly into the content editor. The conditions are typed into the main view (not the HTML view). The format of the condition is as follows:

[!{field} #condition = value1; content for value 1 #condition = value2; content for value 2 #condition = value3; content for value 3 #default put default content here.!]

The dynamic section begins with [! and ends with !]

{field} is the value you are checking (the name of the field in the Contact Record). Any field in the contact record can be used. It can be the person’s name ({firstname}, their job title ({jobtitle}), one of the custom fields, or anything else. A list of available fields can be found at the end of this document.

#condition = Value (value1, value2 and value3 above) is the value you are checking for in the {field}.

Content is what will be displayed if the value in the field is matched.

The #default section is what will be displayed if none of the conditions are matched.

Using the JobTitle example above, the conditional code looks as follows:

Note – in the example above, each condition is on a separate line to assist with legibility. Ideally, the conditional code should be one continuous statement, like this:

This code is used to add a custom word in the middle of a paragraph (conditional code highlighted to ease legibility). Depending on the value in the userchar4 field (Tesco, Supervalu, Lidl or Aldi), the paragraph will appear as follows:
