There is a difference between how single select and multi select questions are exported. Take the following examples:

In order to export the results of this question, we need to set the values which will represent the results on the export file. This is how the question would appear on the exported file. The file shows 5 survey responses with the exported values for the "Favorite Color"

Multi select questions are exported differently. Since multiple answers are allowed, each answer will become its own column.&nbsp;

This question will be exported as 3 columns as shown below.

The fastest way to encode survey questions is to use bulk encode option. This is found on the questions tab. Select "Encode for export". If you prefer to encode questions individually, select the disk icon beside each question.

On the "Encode for Export" screen, this will contain a list of questions which are available to encode. Note: only questions which are on a survey page are eligible to encode.

Each survey has a set of pre-defined fields. For convenience they are split into two types:

These fields can be renamed which will change the way they appear on reports and on exports. To rename these fields select survey properties, then click "Rename Form Fields"

To rename the field, just enter the name you would like to see on the reports and on the export.

It is possible to configure multiple exports for a survey. This can be useful when you need to have multiple destinations or different formats. Before you add a new export, you should ensure that the questions are encoded. Encoding questions assigns the values which will be used for headings and answers when the export file is generated. This gives very fine control over the values used to represent an answer to a question.&nbsp;
